These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things *Part V*

Life has been really swell lately for me and Spring has only been adding to my current cheery demeanor. Things are just seeming brighter than normal these past few weeks, maybe it’s because even when your stressed it feels slightly less intense with the sun shining down on you then it does on a cold and rainy day. In light of these magical Spring powers afoot I want to spread some of my gleeful spirit to my readers and hopefully pass along a smile by posting my newest rendition of “My Favorite Things” in honor of Springtime 2011.

image1. A light floral perfume on your wrists and neck to coincide with the fresh Spring time air

2. Warm Spring showers. If the weather insists on raining then Spring rain is the best kind to have. Not too cold, not too hot and often results in a post shower rainbow. It’s a ‘Goldilocks’ dream come true.

image3 . Decompressing at the end of the week with a game night and best buddies. We usually have one every weekend and I love it ….probably because I ALWAYS win! (except at modesty that is)

4. Spending a quiet afternoon doing a fun DIY craft project you can display with pride once completed.

image5. Cherry blossom trees in their full pink blooming glory

6. Finding no bills when you check the mail, just the latest issue of your magazine subscription or a sweet card from a loved one

image 7. “The Art of Racing In The Rain” by Garth Stein. An adorable and at times quite sad little book that I think is a must have for any and all dog lovers alike. Just don’t forget the tissues.

8. Waking up naturally early Saturday morning thinking it’s a weekday then realizing, you can go back to sleep! Zzzzzz…

image9. Delicious, sugary, cavity inducing Cadbury Creme Eggs that are only here until Easter. Release the goo!

10. Enjoying the extra hour it stays daylight outside after the time change.

image 11. Spring cleaning, which most people probably don’t really enjoy doing but you get rid of so much excess clutter in the process which always feels amazing to donate to charity and gain extra space in your home for the things you really love.

12. Just the same as the birds returning, so does your garden.

So those are my current favorite things lately, most of them all thanks to Spring. Do you have any Spring time related favorites? Share them here and help spread the joy!

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things *Part IV*

image
With Christmas fast approaching I thought I would do another addition of “My Favorite Things.” As you may of guessed these are a dozen of my favorite Christmas things!:

image
1. Christmas movies, Christmas movies and more Christmas movies (I’ve seen National Lampoons Christmas and  A Christmas Story at least 200 times!)

image
2. Receiving Christmas cards. I never throw any out, I LOVE getting and sending them!

3. Getting to spoil the people I love with gifts and treats. I love a good ribbon prettying up the present too.

image
4. Starbucks changing their cups to a Christmas theme. Not to mention filling said cups with delicious holiday themed drinks. Eggnog latte anyone?

5. The Christmas Tree! It’s probably the most exciting part for me. I have so many ornaments now that I try to stick with a theme every year. This year I went gold and burgundy with ribbon garland. Thoughts? (Excuse the darkness, my camera is not so great) See my trees of Christmas past here.

image
6. The cheerful and charitable mood most people carry around with them during the season. So refreshing.

image
7. This gift set from Philosophy called “Snow Angel” is one of my very favorite holiday things. It’s really fresh and clean but has a nice light feminine scent. I was lucky enough to get it as an early Christmas gift from my best friend and I kid you not, I’ve never smelled better!

image
8. A relaxing Christmas morning with family, especially when my Mother-in-law makes breakfast. That woman can cook!

image
9. Speaking of food, Christmas baking please. AND the fact that it’s cold enough outside that I can wear a sweater to try to hide the aftermath of eating so much baked goodness. God was thinking of us sweet toothed people on that one, I’m sure of it. Yesterday I made sugar cookies for my fella to take to the office with him. I took some pictures but my camera seems to have lost them which bummed me out. Regardless they turned out pretty great and everyone loves a cookie!

image
10. Not feeling like a weirdo because I’m listening to Christmas music. Every other month I put it on I feel a little dorky… but it’s such an instant mood booster. If you’re in the market for some holiday music I highly suggest “Elvis Christmas” or “Celine: These Are Special Times.” Both amazing!

image image
11. All my favorite shows air a Christmas episode. The amount of joy that brings me is truly pathetic but I could click my heels when I know there’s a Christmas themed episode on, even if it’s just a rerun.

image
12. My last favorite Christmas thing is that rare occasion that it snows and makes for a white Christmas. It’s so breath taking it’s completely worth the hassle of shoveling and scraping.

So those are some of my faves; do you have any personal favorite things about this holly jolly season? Feel free to share in the good thoughts!

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things *Part III*

Time for a Fall instalment of “my favorite things” here at RB. It’s my favorite season so it’s tough to narrow down my typical top 12 but here it goes:

image
1.) “Fun Size” (aka less guilt….even after 6 or 7) sized chocolate bars at Halloween

ae yellow
2.) Finally getting to bust out your cute scarves, coats and boots again.

3.) The crunch under your feet of burnt orange, squash yellow and cranberry red falling leaves

4.) The day after Halloween when all the candy goes on huge discount. I’d be a fool NOT to buy a wheel barrow’s worth right?

pumpkinspice_frap
5.) STARBUCKS PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES AND FRAPPES! (I think I’m probably up to 50 lattes since this year’s premiere on August 31st, don’t make me do the math on what I’ve spent!)

6.) Hallmark coming out with this years newest ornaments. (Already bought two)

image
7.) Hearty Fall stews with crusty bread and a big ole glass of wine.

8.) Watching Halloween specials like “The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror” every year since I was a kiddie and “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!”

image
9.) Thanksgiving and everything it encompasses. The smells, the sounds, the tastes. It’s bliss!

10.) Young girls having to wear more clothes than the bare minimum because of the weather. What’s with girls these days anyways? I wouldn’t wear some of the stuff they walk down the street in even in the shower!

image
11.) Youngsters in adorable Halloween costumes

12.) Pumpkins, soft throws and warm desserts after a long hot summer.

What are your favorite things this time of year? Share!

These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things *Part I*

I wanted to share with you a dozen things that personally perk up my day to day life. I’m sure you can all relate to a few of these little pleasures. Some of them are things that come unexpectedly, some are planned well in advanced, some are rare and thus even more precious and some are just life’s fabulous everyday simplicities that make you happy to be alive. Here’s are the top twelve things that are making me smile for this month of May:

1. Free samples at the grocery store of the thing you wanted to try but were too scared to buy. Score!

alarm-clock

2. Going to bed and not setting an alarm. Zzzzzzzz

3. Snagging the last pair of shoes in your size.

4. Guilty pleasure TV shows…. I bet you’re thinking of one right now. Don’t feel bad, we all do it.

5. A radio station that plays a bunch of good songs in a row saving you from searching other stations. (I also enjoy singing along to said songs even when I don’t know all the words.)

lucky-charms

6. Eating the marshmallows out of childish cereals (even more silly/fun when you don’t have children…. like myself.)

7. Watching artists take a spill during a performance. Evil I know but so satisfying to see they’re human and fall on their butts like the rest of us.

8. Getting in the car to find your mate already refuelled it for you. I love that man.

9. Catching a rerun of the show you missed but were dying to see while channel surfing.

housewife-dishes

10. When all the dishes are done for the day. Time to relax those pruny fingers.

11. Your mate telling you, “you’re worth it,” for any reason at all. Doesn’t it make you feel extra special? *sigh* I really love that man.

12. A pet sleeping so soundly it makes you yawn. Yes, that’s my bebe snoozing away and making my eyelids heavy. However, I don’t look nearly as cute as this when I sleep…

I would also love to know some of yours favourite things. What little things make all the difference for you? A specific smell? A soothing sound? Maybe something as simple as your favourite flavour ice cream? I want to hear all about your personal perks that make your day a little sunnier and keep watching for more of mine as they come.
