I am one of those people that doesn’t overly buy into Valentine’s day; my fella and I don’t do gifts or eat at a crowded restaurant or even act particularly different from any other day. However, on this day dedicated to passion and love and all that it entails, it’s hard not to give in and feel a little mushy.
Much like the Christmas season, it evokes a warm fuzzy feeling from deep inside. It's a beautiful reminder to appreciate all the loves you have in your life. Not just your “sweet baboo” but your friends and family and pets, all saturating you in pure unadulterated love.
My favorite part is just the time spent together today. Even though it’s no different than yesterday or tomorrow, somehow Valentine’s day makes the time feel extra special. It’s a blessing to have love in your life so appreciate all the moments you are given with the people you love most.
So if you will allow me to get fuzzy on all of you while you celebrate this day, please enjoy my Valentine to you. It's my favorite Shelly poem, “Love’s Philosophy” in dedication to everyone who loves someone.
And the rivers with the ocean,
The winds of Heaven mix for ever,
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single;
All things by a law divine
In one spirit meet and mingle.
Why not I with mine?-
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister-flower would be forgiven
If it disdained it’s brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth
And the moonbeams kiss the sea:
What is all this sweet work worth
If thou kiss not me?

What a lovely post! My "sweetie" and I had a wonderful day together and we didn't go out or give each other large gifts either. We gave each other a card and we cook a wonderful steak dinner together!
Sounds lovely Sherri, thanks so much for sharing!
