Cage’s Casa Woes

image

Actor Nicolas Cage cannot seem to get out of the real estate dumps lately. After suffering through some money troubles (cue the tiny violin here) Cage has been forced to purge and in some cases, get foreclosed on most of his homes. From what I’ve heard his Middletown, Rhode Island home is the latest abode feeling the pinch. It was originally listed at $19 million in 2005 but has since been dramatically slashed to $7.75 million. That’s close to $8 million LESS than he shelled out for the home! That’s almost as tragic as his career has been for the last few years ...ohhh low blow! It just baffles me that people with massive amounts of money like Cage can be so irresponsible with it. You would think raking in $20 million a movie you’d have no prob keeping the Benjamins rolling. Oh well, I’m giving Cage a hard time but it’s not my place to judge his fiduciary decisions ….it is however, entertaining to read about them.

The historic 18,825 sq ft, 4 level mansion was built in 1924.
image
 image
It sits on a 27 acre lot which includes gorgeous water views of Nelson Pond and the Atlantic Ocean.
 image
Of course the grounds come complete with the typical rich people stuff like heated garages, a pool, tennis court, fish pond and guest house.
 image
The massive stone and brick home has 33 rooms total including 12 bedrooms and 11.5 bathrooms, a dining room with seating for 14, an eat-in kitchen and 9 stone and marble fireplaces.
 image
image
The rooms feel really massive to me and lose that nice cozy feel a home should have but the detailing in the architecture is really beautiful. I love the chandeliers too.
image
This looks to be a picture of the barrel vaulted library of the home. Looks like something out of a movie. Guess he would be the man to make that happen in a home.
 image
Of course a complete gym to keep that Hollywood physique in check.
  image
This is one of the last home's Cage has to unload but for whatever reason he just can’t seem to get it sold. What do you think of Cage’s Rhode Island mansion. Is it worth the $7.75 million?

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things *Part IV*

image
With Christmas fast approaching I thought I would do another addition of “My Favorite Things.” As you may of guessed these are a dozen of my favorite Christmas things!:

image
1. Christmas movies, Christmas movies and more Christmas movies (I’ve seen National Lampoons Christmas and  A Christmas Story at least 200 times!)

image
2. Receiving Christmas cards. I never throw any out, I LOVE getting and sending them!

IMG_3131
3. Getting to spoil the people I love with gifts and treats. I love a good ribbon prettying up the present too.

image
4. Starbucks changing their cups to a Christmas theme. Not to mention filling said cups with delicious holiday themed drinks. Eggnog latte anyone?

IMG_3135 IMG_3128
5. The Christmas Tree! It’s probably the most exciting part for me. I have so many ornaments now that I try to stick with a theme every year. This year I went gold and burgundy with ribbon garland. Thoughts? (Excuse the darkness, my camera is not so great) See my trees of Christmas past here.

image
6. The cheerful and charitable mood most people carry around with them during the season. So refreshing.

image
7. This gift set from Philosophy called “Snow Angel” is one of my very favorite holiday things. It’s really fresh and clean but has a nice light feminine scent. I was lucky enough to get it as an early Christmas gift from my best friend and I kid you not, I’ve never smelled better!

image
8. A relaxing Christmas morning with family, especially when my Mother-in-law makes breakfast. That woman can cook!

image
9. Speaking of food, Christmas baking please. AND the fact that it’s cold enough outside that I can wear a sweater to try to hide the aftermath of eating so much baked goodness. God was thinking of us sweet toothed people on that one, I’m sure of it. Yesterday I made sugar cookies for my fella to take to the office with him. I took some pictures but my camera seems to have lost them which bummed me out. Regardless they turned out pretty great and everyone loves a cookie!

image
10. Not feeling like a weirdo because I’m listening to Christmas music. Every other month I put it on I feel a little dorky… but it’s such an instant mood booster. If you’re in the market for some holiday music I highly suggest “Elvis Christmas” or “Celine: These Are Special Times.” Both amazing!

image image
11. All my favorite shows air a Christmas episode. The amount of joy that brings me is truly pathetic but I could click my heels when I know there’s a Christmas themed episode on, even if it’s just a rerun.

image
12. My last favorite Christmas thing is that rare occasion that it snows and makes for a white Christmas. It’s so breath taking it’s completely worth the hassle of shoveling and scraping.

So those are some of my faves; do you have any personal favorite things about this holly jolly season? Feel free to share in the good thoughts!

Tab-ulous Pages!

image

The look of Reckless Bliss has changed a little bit for the ease of you lovely people. I added tabs for compilations of my most popular pages. Every time I do a post on one of those subjects it will be posted to the main Reckless Bliss home page as well as added to the designated page.

I’ll take you on a quick walk through each new page:

     home
The first tab is pretty straight forward. “Home” meaning click it and you will be diverted back to the Reckless Bliss homepage.

mf
The next tab is my most popular subject and inspired the idea behind the tabs. “Modern Family Designs” is a collection of all the posts and info I have gathered since I started researching the set design of the popular ABC sitcom. There you will find photos of each home featured on the show as well some ideas on how to recreate the look in your home.

DS
The third tab is called “Design Schemes” which consists of all the mood boards I have created in various styles. Here you will find some ideas for your living rooms, bedrooms and more. I am also available to do a custom room for your specific needs should you need some help.

Fashion
The next tab is “Fashion.” This tab is all the “Pure Girl Moment” posts I have created since I started this blog. My favorite fashions, beauty supplies and bridal gear are compiled for your browsing ease and enjoyment.

rb
The fifth tab is “Support RB” and here you will find all the helpful ways you can show the love for Reckless Bliss. I am always looking to expand this blog and reach more people so if you would like to help with this then click the tab for a number of ways you can do so (thank you in advance!)

contact
The last tab is “Contact RB” which is also fairly straight forward. If you need design advice for your home, have a question or would just like a way to contact me privately then you are more than welcome to do so by using this tab.

I’m excited to see how the tabs work out and hope that they make it easier to find exactly what tickles your fancy. Over time I will be adding more pages to take you straight to where you want to go. Of course the comments are still open to the public and I love hearing from you. A big thank you and a Merry Christmas to all my followers and readers!

Thanks for your support and loyalty!
