Lurve Is in The Air

My fella and I are celebrating our anniversary starting tomorrow and carrying it on over the weekend; I don’t know what we are doing as of yet but he took the time off work so I’m already psyched. I thought since I won’t be visiting Reckless Bliss until after the festivities are through I would do a post of what’s currently coursing through my mind and that is sweet, sweet love. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have been with my guy since I was sixteen and I’m still over the moon in love with his scruffy beard and kind eyes.  It amazes me to think of how far we’ve come and yet there’s still sooo more ahead of us which excites me to know I get to spend it next to him. But enough about me, since we’re on the topic then why not share some of my favorite couples from Hollywood? I’ve added couples that are no longer together on the end but I wish they were because they were adorable mates. I tried to find all the pictures as candid shots because anyone can fake a smile on a red carpet or in a photo shoot, I wanted love-in-action pictures. Enjoy my fellow love birds!

Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Bogie left his third wife after falling head over heels in love with Bacall when they met on the set of “To Have And Have Not.” He has said Lauren was the love of his life. Despite the age difference Bogie and Bacall stuck together until his death in 1957.

Michael and Shakira Caine. I’ve loved Michael Caine ever since I saw him in “A Muppet Christmas Carol” as a kiddie and still watch it every year. These two lovers met after Michael became obsessed with finding "the most beautiful woman he had ever seen" after seeing her in a commercial for Maxwell House coffee. He was planning on going to Brazil to track her down but it turned out that she was living in London, England just like him. A friend gave him her phone number but she was reluctant to date the then “playboy” however, after some persuading she gave in. 37 years later they’re still together. How freaking romantic is that!?

Dustin Hoffman and Lisa Gottsegen. Let me start by confessing, I have a HUGE crush on Hoffman; young or old I’m in so love with him. So, after I heard him say, "I prepare breakfast and take it to my wife in bed. I've been doing that for almost 30 years," I was only more in love. It’s rare to find a man who still treasures his wife and treats her like a queen. Hoffman has been married to Lisa for 27 years… no surprise there!

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner (or Bennifer 2.0) I’m actually not a huge fan of either of these people as actors but every time I see a picture of them together or with their girls, this family seems like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting. It’s nice to see a celebrity couple happy and in love (and not surrounded by nannies).

image

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi. Love doesn’t know gender or race but it isn’t always easy. I love that these two are together and happy and I hope they stay together right to the end.

image

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. These two will break my heart if they ever end their marriage. I double dog dare you to watch his Oscar acceptance speech for “Forrest Gump” and not start tearing when he chokes up while saying, “The woman I share my life with has taught me and demonstrates everyday, just what love is.”  Who needs Meg Ryan to fall in love with a romantic Tom Hanks?

Now for the ones I thought were cute as a button but couldn’t quite make it work. Such a shame because they’re all so good together.

Jake Gyllenhal and Reese Witherspoon. They looked like that sweet couple you have over to play board games with. I was bummed they didn’t last, I can’t imagine letting those abs leave my life. Mmm he’s delicious.

image

Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston. These two comedy actors seemed like a perfect match in my books. Aniston certainly hasn’t had much luck in the man department since they broke up meanwhile, Vaughn was recently married.

image

Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. Are they on? Are they off? I can’t keep up anymore but either way I hope these two free spirits work it out and stick together, they look like a really fun couple.

image

Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy. I don’t know what it is about these two. I have no real interest in either of them acting wise but something about the two of them together made them more likeable as a whole. I was really surprised to hear they broke up.

image

Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. I was a huge “Notebook” fan so I was crushed to hear these guys didn’t last. I wanted the fairytale romance from the movie like everyone else but that never really works out in the end. I like to think Cinderella is still happily in love with her Prince though, can’t take that from me!

Sandra Bullock and Jesse “the Scumbag” James. The only part of this break up that broke my heart was that Sandra was so hurt by this pig. She became a second mother to his kids and poured so much love into all her acceptance speeches just to be betrayed. She seems like such a sweet gal and really deserves a guy to treat her right. James failed miserably and proved all his skeptics right. Don’t give up Sandy, it’ll happen for you!

Are you lucky enough to be in love or have a celeb couple you hold on a pedestal? Share!

Gosh reading this post made me so emotional. I have seen you with your beau now for so many years, and watched your love grow. You are an inspiration, and you both qualify as one of those beautiful couples photographed. I agree with all of your favorite celebs.. and was also sad when I heard a few years ago about Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, I don't watch the movie any more because of it. Isn't that sad lol? Have a great weekend my fabulous bestie!
